Cancer tumors, could they be considered a complication of Diabetes?

Cancer Cancer and diabetes are two of the most common diseases that may possibly have a link according to some research. Should we stand up and take notice or just believe there is nothing to worry about and everything is alright. Research on this subject is conflicting to say the least.

The people with diabetes that develop cancer have a higher death rate than those without diabetes. This may be happening for several reasons:

- Like high blood sugar adversely affects the heart and kidneys making their bodies weaker and not as able to withstand chemotherapy.

- Perhaps the fact that diabetes causes heart disease, strokes, kidney damage, and blindness making the diagnoses of this disease a more complicated situation.

- Another reason might be that some treatment therapies for this disease can cause blood sugar levels to go even higher putting the diabetic patient at more than normal risk.

- Some researchers think high blood sugar levels may cause the tumors to grow faster than in people with normal levels.

- Diabetics have a harder time fighting infections which may ultimately increase the higher death rate.

Now on the other side of the argument there are some people who believe there is no link between these two diseases and people with diabetes are simply at greater risk of health problems and have a higher mortality rate in general. Believing one possible factor could be depression and the delay it causes in a proper diagnosis and treatment of diseases leading to a poorer survival rate.

Whatever you believe, this should at least make you understand the severity of both diseases and that everyone needs to take better care of their health. There seems to be more questions raised here than answered in the available information. Perhaps there will be more research done in the future to clear this up.

In the meantime, everyone needs to take a proactive approach to their health to keep their bodies function properly. Some ways to do this is eating a well balanced diet, adding natural supplements to give your body the missing components, and exercising for 20 minutes a day to look and feel good.
