Carbohydrates and Diabetes

Carbs affect on insulin and blood sugar levels in the body

carbohydrates

Carbohydrates have the greatest effect on blood glucose levels because they are a natural sugar molecule and play an important role for the body by supplying it with energy. Diabetes patients need to understand this because too many unburned carbs can turn into high blood sugar levels quickly.

Complex carbs are foods high in starch, such as bread, cereals, potatoes, pasta, and rice diabetics should try to limit these. When you eat them they are mostly digested into glucose which is absorbed from the intestine straight into the bloodstream.

However, it is not possible to completely cut out carbs because they do help energize the body and without them some people may suffer from headaches, constipation, and fatigue. So try to burn off the energy they give after you eat them with an active lifestyle.

For better health and energy you should choose ones with more vitamins, minerals, and fiber such as whole grain breads and cereals, dried beans, lentils, and legumes, low-fat milk fresh fruits and juices.
