Diabetes Insipidus Causes

Diabetes insipidus causes are not all known. This is a rare disease where the kidneys cannot conserve the water as they try to perform and filter the blood. Here are the known causes of this disease:

Causes

In some people, the hypothalamus in brain doesn’t make enough of the hormone ADH or antidiuretic hormone. ADH helps the body balance water in the urine and in the blood.

In other people, the kidneys will not work with ADH the way they should. Most cases are diagnosed after a head injury, tumor, or brain surgery.

Some medications such as lithium can also cause an imbalance to occur and this disease a chance to develop.

Sometimes this disease will be hereditary and run in families, but in about 25% of the cases doctors can find no known cause for this condition to occur.
