Fenugreek and ancient medicinal herb can help with diabetes.

Fenugreek

Fenugreek is a fiber rich seed and a member of the legueme family. As one of the world’s oldest medicinal herbs it grows in India, Morocco, Egypt and England to be two to three feet tall that is strongly aromatic. Egytians used its seeds for medicinal purposes and roasted the seeds as coffee. The seeds of the herb have been used as an effective nutritional supplement that herbalists have been using for centuries to improve a persons health.

Diabetes Connection

The seeds work to lower diabetes blood sugar levels in three ways.

1. The seeds have a chemical that slows down the time that food takes to go through the intestinal tract. As a result sugars from food are absorbed more slowly and blood sugar levels may not rise as high or fluctuate as much as usual.

2. It also decreases the activity or certain enzymes involved in releasing stored sugar from the liver into the blood.

3. Finally, it seems to contain an amino acid which increases the body’s production of insulin when blood sugar levels are high.

Some studies suggest that this herb will work for both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. It has been suggested to take it with each meal to keep the blood sugar levels stabilize throughout the day. As with most natural supplements you will need to use it consistently to completely notice the effects.
