The right combination of fruits and vegetables for Diabetes
Many people have heard most of their lives that eating fruits and vegetables are good for you. However, are all of them good for diabetes patients? Well this does need to be looked at and cleared up because some will cause your blood sugar levels to rise.
As a rule, try to eat three to five servings of them every day. They are a lot of good soluble
fibers
found in fruits, vegetables and some seeds are good for diabetics. They help by slowing down the rate of digestion and absorption of glucose from the intestines.
Some studies have shown that eating just one serving of green leafy vegetables or three to five servings of fruit a day can reduce the risk of developing
type 2
diabetes. Diabetes patients should include leafy vegetables, vegetable soups and juices in their diet.
Vegetables like tomato, cucumber, bitter gourd, carrot, cooked kidney beans, pumpkin, beans, cabbage, onion, spinach, etc. are good for diabetes.
Many people like to drink fruit juices, but studies have shown that they have much higher
sugar
levels than just eating the fruit. So if it’s possible just eat the natural fruit instead of the processed drink.
Avoid fruits like banana, mango, grapes, papaya, jack fruit and vegetables like potato, tapioca, sweet potato etc. containing lot of
carbohydrates.
