Green Tea Benefits for Diabetes and Your Body

Green Tea

Green tea may be the most simple and inexpensive ways to help the body and maintain your health. People for thousands of years have been drinking them for a variety of reasons. Some use them for healing, ceremonies, and just because they like the taste of them. Many people today enjoy relaxing with a tall, cool glass of iced tea or a soothing cup of hot tea.

Some of you may not realize that green tea, black tea, oolong tea (also known as wulong tea) and white tea all come from the same plant called Camellia Sinesis. The only difference in them is how they are processed.

Black tea is allowed to wither, fully oxidized and dried allowing it to yield a hearty, amber-colored brew.

Green tea is processed similar to black, but skips the oxidizing step. It is simply withered and then dried giving it a more delicate taste and a pale green or golden color to it.

Oolong tea is withered, partially oxidized and dried putting it somewhere between black and green tea in color and in taste.

White tea is the least processed and is not oxidized or rolled but simply withered and dried by steaming. It is made from immature tea leaves that are picked shortly before the buds have fully opened. Since they have the shortest harvest period this makes it more expensive tea and is a very rare, antioxidant rich tea found mostly in China.

They all share the same health benefits although white tea is said to be 5 times more effective than green. The more processing tea leaves undergo, the darker they will turn. These two teas are the least processed of them. They are simply steamed quickly.

Diabetes Connection

These teas have been used and promoted for many years as an effective tool to help control blood sugar levels in people with diabetes. Some studies suggest that they can help type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes from starting or after they start by slowing them down. It has been recommended to drink at least six cups per day to get the most powerful results. Teas are a healthy way to drink to your good health.
