9) Lifting Weights and Strength Training
Research has shown that people with diabetes will get the most benefits from doing strength training with weights or elastic bans and aerobic exercises such as a brisk walk, dancing, low impact aerobics, swimming, ice skating or roller skating, playing tennis or a stationary bicycle indoors.
Working out to control your diabetes can be fun, but remember to get an exercise buddy and choose an activity that is fun for you. Maybe choose a few activities and alternate days or weeks that you do them so you don’t get bored with the same old routine. Maybe, you could start a neighborhood or workplace outdoor activity evening to get to know your neighbors or co-workers better and get them involved in becoming healthier too. Meet them at a tennis court, basket ball court, or walking path to join you for a fun-filled event, it could be a lot of fun.
